Check version and destination
Use the separate recommended Companion ZIP. The extension bundled with Desktop can be a different version. Open the actual toolbar popup, choose Web or Desktop, and confirm the displayed account. A normal browser tab showing popup.html is not the Chrome toolbar popup.
Reconnect the same account
If Web connection expired, choose Reconnect and complete the connection in your Web workspace. Return to the source tab. An expired source request may need Prepare note again before Generate note; preparation itself does not use generation quota.
After a confirmed failure
A failed generation returns its generation credit automatically. The interface may briefly show refund pending. Check the original operation first. Generate note again is explicit and creates a new request, so avoid repeated clicks or creating another request while the result is uncertain.
If it still does not work
Send support the client, version, OS/browser, time and visible error. Hide personal information in screenshots. Do not send cookies, tokens, passwords, API keys or private note contents.
